Hennessey Corvette ZR700 has 705 Horsepower

Friday, February 27th, 2009

Hennessey has released its first ZR package that bumps the horsepower up to 705 and torque to 717 Lb.-Ft. All that power gets the ZR a height of 212mph a 10.90 quarter mile time at 132 mph. By the looks of the drag video below there is some lost time there on the tree. Obvioulsy they are slowing ramping up the horsepower and torque numbers. I know there must be a twin turbo package being developed right now targeted at that crazy 1K HP mark.

Hyundai Supercharged V8 Tau

Wow Hyundai is deciding to really come out of the gate running. Just a few days ago Hyundai released full specs and prices on the Genesis Coupe and the race inspired R-Spec version. Now Hyundai has shown a prototype 4.6L Tau V8 with a roots supercharger delivering 460 horsepower and 435 lbs.-ft. of torque. The engine also has a clutched pulley system, water-to-air intercooler, and cylinder deactivation. I am very excited to see this in some type of Hyundai automobile. Someone needs to go take some measurements of that engine. I am sure someone is already making a home somewhere for one.

Fastest street-legal car on earth 1963 Corvette

Rod Saboury’s 1963 Corvette has set a record for being the fastest street-legal car on earth. The Corvette has a custom made 2,400 horsepower twin turbocharged small block Chevy built by Moran Engines. With all this power he is still able to get 11 MPG on the highway. No telling how fast it will guzzle gas when going light to light. The record comes from the Corvette reaching 210.54 mph at the end of a quarter-mile and doing it in 6.96 seconds, the fastest ever recorded for a street-legal car. The Corvette does 0-60 mph in 1 second and 159 mph in 4.56 seconds. Rod met all state inspection requirements which required working headlights, tail lights, working doors, windshield wipers, turn signals, pump gas, and DOT approved tires. This car was so awesome, Super Chevy magazine named Rod’s Corvette Car of the Year in February. This great car took seven years to complete, two years to design and five years to build.

1000HP Dodge Challenger SRT8

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

The 425 horsepower Hemi in a Dodge Challenger SRT8 sometimes is enough and sometimes it is not. If you find yourself needed a little bit more power, you might want to stop by Ohio based RDP Performance. There they will take your Dodge Challenger and add twin superchargers and a nitrous system to boost the output to 1,000 horsepower. RDP Performance’s SRT is able to put down a 9 second quarter mile.
